JOHN VARVATOS SOUTH COAST PLAZA:
”Rock in style”

This is a :30 commercial I made for the fashion brand John Varvatos.

One of the things I try to do is really capture the vibe and energy of the subject. You can see John Varvatos feels like rock n’ roll the moment you enter the store. The music you hear, the photos of rock stars covering the walls. I tried to capture that in the commercial. They were pretty happy with the results.

DUCATI NEWPORT BEACH:
”Ride Like You Want It”

This is a :30 second commercial I made on-spec for Ducati Newport Beach.

With each video I like to try new things and improve my skills. With this, I switched from Final Cut X to DaVinci Resolve. This gave me access to much more powerful color correcting suite, as well as tools like Depth Map, which allowed me to change what’s in and out of focus. I also played around with slow motion.

FLDWRK:
”It’s FLDWRK”

This is a :30 commercial I made on-spec for a friend’s co-working space called FLDWRK. Since it was one of my earlier shoots, it was really just about becoming comfortable with filming for shorter content like commercials. However, with this I felt it needed a voice-over for clarity.

BUENAS COFFEE:
”Buenas Coffee Is Open”

This is a :30 second commercial I made on-spec for a small coffee shop called Buenas Coffee. This was the first time I’d filmed anything like this in nearly a decade. So, most of it was about overcoming the natural resistance to creativity. Just getting up and going and filming something. The owner liked it, so it worked out for everyone. It’s also my wife’s favorite commercial I’ve made… so far.
